Dating App Vocabulary

Netflix and chill- euphemism for a stay-at-home date that would probably lead to ‘hooking up’

Polyamorous- ‘Poly’ for short; means a person will have many sexual partners

Non-monogamous- not committed to one person; having many partners

Open marriage/relationship- allowed to have outside intimate partners

Down for (whatever)- ready for

Slide into my DM’s- sending someone a direct message on social media, usually for romantic purposes, but it is used sarcastically a lot because it sounds gross and creepy

Comment on this video! Have you tried online dating? What is it like in your city or country?

Pop Culture R&R

So, this is not romantic, but there are definitely creeps on dating apps.

I just watched the documentary series on Netflix called Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes and it was incredibly interesting.

I think his name is notorious, as he is one of the most famous serial killers of all time, and I was surprised that I really didn’t know that much about him.

In the series, they go through the whole timeline of his murders and arrests, combined with clips from actual interviews a journalist did with him in prison.

A couple surprising things- he was a law student, he managed to escape from prison more than once, and he actually started killing women up here in the Pacific Northwest!

If you have a macabre sense about you at all, you will find this documentary series fascinating.
